'Akdin Raatre' is the Bengali version of this film. "Jaagte Raho" received the first prize in the Karlovy Vary Film Festival in 1957. For Salil it was a great year since Kabuliwaalaa also gets a special mention for music at the Berlin Film Festival.
In the '50s it was quite common for other famous playback singers recording version songs for other film hits. Manna Dey also recorded "zindagi khwaab hai" in his own style.
