Song#MF3 is in fact based on the well-known Konkan folk-song 'Undir mama muiza'. Salil was very much inflenced by the folk music of India (and also of other countries). His many compositions are based on the folk music of India.
He also managed to get Dilip Kumar sing with Lata in this film!
